Pump Operator

Location: Roo Bay Farm, Homabay

We are seeking a highly capable Pump Operator to play a pivotal role monitoring the pump operation and ensure it is operating efficiently,

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Clean and inspect the pump for signs of damage or wear
  • Ensure that the pumphouse is locked at any time
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and lighting at all times
  • Keep records of all activities related to pump operation and maintenance, including the daily pumping hours (Starting and stopping time)
  • Inspect pump pipeline to determine leakages and repairs
  • Ensure proper handing over to the next operator
  • He/she must coordinate the pumping activities with the pond team and other water users.
  • Ensure the adherence on running frequency of each pumps once they are both in use
  • Must be ready to do other plumbing jobs at the farm as will be instructed.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Craft Certificate in plumbing and pipe fitting from NITA or a recognized Institution.
  • High School Diploma (KCSE)  
  • Ability to operate and monitor control panels and gauges.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
